You can tell this is going to be a beautiful book just by the lovely hardback cover. An elegant shade of green befitting its heroine, aristocratic adventuress Petra de Karlowitz. With a passion for aviation and anonymity, Petra takes to the skies from her home in Holland to thwart the Germans during the tail end of World War I. But this is only the beginning.

There's an amusing anecdote as to how Jordi Lafebre got his start in comics (see below), but he rose to recognition collaborating with French writer Zidrou on such titles as Lydie, La Mondaine, and thea six volumes of Les Beaux Étés (Glorious Summers) between 2009 and 2021. His first solo venture was 2020's gorgeous Always Never. It's wonderful love story told in reverse, with the last chapter running completely backwards.

In Laura Pérez's first solo book, , a character says "It seems our world lacks words to grapple with all the things that seem inexplicable." This statement could very well be the raison d'être behind Pérez's stories, which, while not wordless, rely on a series of beautiful illustrations to do the telling. Fantagraphics has published three of her works in English - Ocultos , and now - across this trio themes emerge that Pérez's style is particularly suited to tackle.
