Psychotropic drug-induced weight gain and untargeted metabolomics: machine learning-driven results from a prospective cohort study
Abstract Several psychotropic drugs can induce important weight gain. The present study aims to elucidate the metabolomic fingerprint of this adverse effect. From the Psymetab cohort, 151 follow-ups from 135 patients starting a weight-inducing psychotropic drug were selected. Untargeted metabolomics analyses were applied to plasma samples collected at treatment baseline and at another time point during the follow-up.
Associations of 24-h urinary excretion of heavy metals and trace elements with estimated glomerular filtration rate and chronic kidney disease
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a growing global health concern. Although certain elements have been implicated in CKD, evidence based on 24-h urinary excretion and kidney outcomes remains limited. Cross-sectional data from the SKIPOGH cohort (2008–2013) were used to assess 24-h urinary element excretion, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and CKD. Associations were evaluated using multivariable regression, nonlinear modeling, mixture analysis, and fractional excretion.
Depletion-dependent activity-based protein profiling using SWATH/DIA-MS detects serine hydrolase lipid remodeling in lung adenocarcinoma progression - Nature Communications
Abstract Systematic inference of enzyme activity in human tumors is key to understanding cancer progression and resistance to therapy. However, standard protein or transcript abundances are blind to the activity status of the measured enzymes, regulated, for example, by active-site amino acid mutations or post-translational protein modifications.
Gut microbiota-dependent increase in phenylacetic acid induces endothelial cell senescence during aging
Abstract Endothelial cell (EC) senescence plays a crucial role in the development of cardiovascular diseases in aging population. Gut microbiota alterations are emerging as significant factors present in cellular senescence associated with aging. However, little is known about how aging-related changes in gut microbiota are causally implicated in EC senescence.
Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate as a key player of insulin secretion induced by high‐density lipoprotein treatment
Abstract Beta cell failure is one of the most important features of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). High‐density lipoprotein (HDL) has been proposed to improve β‐cell function. However, the mechanisms involved in this process are still poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of sphingosine‐1‐phosphate (S1P) in the impact of HDL treatment on insulin secretion by pancreatic β‐cells and to determine its mechanisms.
XCMS-MRM and METLIN-MRM: a cloud library and public resource for targeted analysis of small molecules
a, the transitions of the target molecule are compared to putative interfering molecules, which consist of all the molecules in the METLIN library with precursors within ±0.7 Da window the precursor of the target molecule. Selective transitions are selected based on their fragment specificity (how unique is that fragment for that molecule). This specificity or selectivity is determined with a density estimation b, where the density of the intensity of a given fragment is computed.
