PULLMAN, Wash. -- Legendary Washington State University Football coach Jim Walden, who coached the Cougars from 1978 to 1986 and returned to the Palouse to serve as an analyst on radio, died Thursday in Coeur d'Alene at the age of 88. A 2009 WSU Hall of Fame inductee, Walden brought stability to a program that had seen three head coaching changes in three seasons.
