The number of students walking through the doors of Miami-Dade's K-12 public schools declined again to start the year, according to district data — and for the first time, the decline is affecting charter schools. Compared to day 1 of school last year, about 15,100 fewer students were enrolled in a traditional, district-run public school on Aug. 13 to start this school year — 215,078 to last year's 230,172.
