1. Introduction Sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl) amino] octanoate, known as SNAC or salcaprozate sodium, is a synthetic N-acetylated amino-acid derivative of salicylic acid. It contains an aromatic structure—phenol, a fatty chain and carboxylate sodium salt. It was first synthesized during a molecular screening aimed at optimizing penetration enhancers in order to formulate them with bioactive compounds to enhance their bioavailability [1].
