Warming increases the phenological mismatch between carbon sources and sinks in conifers - Nature Climate Change
|
Abstract The dynamics of carbon allocation in trees affect carbon storage of forest ecosystems and atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations on Earth. Here, using carbon fluxes and xylem phenology from 84 conifer forests across the Northern Hemisphere, we quantify the phenology of carbon sources (photosynthesis) and sinks (stem growth) along a thermal gradient from −4.4 to 18.2 °C in mean annual temperature.

Interfering tumor metabolism by bimetallic nanoagent for amplifying nanocatalytic-mediated glioblastoma immunotherapy
Glioblastoma is an intractable malignant brain tumor [1]. The clinical recurrence rate of glioblastoma patients is close to 100%, and the 5-year survival rate is less than 5% [2], [3]. The development of immunotherapy has brought new hope for the treatment of glioblastoma [4], [5]. However, the immunosuppression and abnormal TME of glioblastoma make it difficult to develop immunotherapy in glioblastoma.
Field-induced time modulation and bunching effects in photodetachment microscopy
We present a theoretical study of the image manipulation induced by an additional oscillating electric field in traditional photodetachment microscopy. We find that the spatial electron interference image on the detecting screen perpendicular to the field is now time modulated and it varies with the oscillating field periodically.

Effect of dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors, thiazolidinedione, and sulfonylurea on osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes: population-based cohort study
Abstract Summary The population-based cohort study used the Korean National Health Insurance claims database to evaluate the effect of anti-diabetic drugs on osteoporosis. The use of DPP-IV inhibitors does not increase the risk of osteoporosis compared with the use of sulfonylureas in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, while a weak association was found between thiazolidinediones and increased risk of osteoporosis.

Gastric cancer nodal tumour-stroma ratios influence prognosis
Abstract This study showed that nodal tumour–stroma ratio (NTSR) is an independent prognostic factor for overall and disease‐free survival of patients with gastric cancer. Both relative stroma‐rich primary tumour–stroma ratio (PTSR) and NTSR were independent negative prognostic factors for overall survival in gastric cancer. This study supports assessment of tumour–stroma ratio in the routine pathological diagnosis of gastric cancer.
Thickness dependence of electronic structures in $\mathrm{V}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ ultrathin films: Suppression of the cooperative Mott-Peierls transition
Abstract Through in situ photoemission spectroscopy, we investigated the change in the electronic structures and V-V dimerization of dimensionality-controlled VO2 films coherently grown on TiO2(001) substrates. In the nanostructured films, the balance between the instabilities of a bandlike Peierls transition and a Mott transition is controlled as a function of thickness.

Allergic contact dermatitis is an inflammatory skin condition caused by direct contact of a substance with the skin. The primary method of identifying the responsible agent is through patch testing. Historically, true gold allergy is extremely rare.

269P Transarterial ethanol ablation combined with transarterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein tumor thrombus B. Yang and Z. Liao Abdominal Oncology, West China Hospital, Huaxi, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China Background: Portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) can be detected in 30-62% of patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). HCC with PVTT is considered to have an extremely poor prognosis.
Vascular surgery-related organ injury and protective strategies: update and future prospects
Whilst there has been a reduction in the prevalence of peripheral vascular disease worldwide, a significant proportion of the world's growing population is still affected by disease of the aorta, carotid, iliac and lower limb arteries. These if left untreated can result in severe morbidity and mortality.
Polarization effects in lattice-STED microscopy
Massive parallelization of STED-like nanoscopies is now achievable using well-designed optical lattices for state depletion. Yet, only the lattice intensity distribution was considered for the description of the super-resolved point spread function. This holds for fast-rotating fluorescent emitters. Here, we study the effects of electric field topography in lattice–STED microscopy.
