1 Introduction Health declines associated with the ageing body have contributed to fears of a ‘demographic ageing’ across the world (Gallistl and Von Laufenberg 2024; Harper 2014; Joyce and Loe 2010). If, ‘in Western culture, the dominant story about ageing bodies is framed around the biology of decline’ (Katz 2011, 187), this appears starkly in the health problem of unintentional falls among older adults (i.e., those aged 65+).
