3. Discussion Macrophages are multipotent, multifunctional cells which may undergo considerable transformation in response to various inducers. In different environmental conditions, they may remain non-polarized, or, by different polarizing agents, they could be transformed into cells with pro-inflammatory M1 or anti-inflammatory M2 phenotypes [16].
