Developing Ireland’s next women senior leaders

Building on the huge success of the Aurora leadership development initiative for women in Ireland, Advance HE has developed a contextualised Senior Women’s Leadership Development Programme for Ireland. The programme aims to provide a safe space for women, developing the knowledge, skills and network necessary to succeed in senior leadership roles. Barbara Bassa is programme director and lead for women’s leadership development at Advance HE.

From regular discussions and deeper consultative conversations with Advance HE members over the last six months, we gathered a long list of challenges faced by the post-pandemic higher education (HE) sector: a stricter and more rigid regulatory environment, scarce funding sources, the cost of living crisis; changes in student behaviour and engagement, deteriorating wellbeing of students and staff, increasing number of deaths by suicide, burnout, stress and retention problems, to name a few.
