Use of polygenic risk scores (PRS) as a risk-stratification tool in cancer screening is an area of increasing interest. The BARCODE1 study is an observational prostate cancer screening study, investigating the use of PRS to risk-stratify people by risk of prostate cancer, with those identified as higher risk invited for prostate cancer screening.
JCARR approves rules impacting CPA candidates
By Barbara Benton, CAE, OSCPA vice president of government relations The Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review this week approved several administrative rules impacting candidates seeking to enter the CPA profession. These rules are slated to go into effect by the end of April. Proposed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio, the 10 rule revisions primarily focus on qualifications to sit for the CPA exam, and on qualifications for the Education Assistance Program scholarships.

By Barbara Benton, CAE, OSCPA vice president of government relations Where the critically important Ohio Supreme Court races are concerned, incumbent Justice Sharon Kennedy won easily, but fellow incumbent Justice Judi French lost by a similar margin. Both were strongly supported by OSCPA. As a result of French’s loss, control of the Court now will be 4-3, with a slim majority by jurists who have established records of judicial restraint.
