A refined, minimally invasive, reproducible ovine ischaemia-reperfusion-infarction model using implantable defibrillators: Methodology and validation
1 INTRODUCTION Cardiovascular diseases, mainly ischaemic heart diseases, are the leading cause of mortality in the UK (Cheema et al., 2022) and worldwide (WHO, 2023). Coronary artery disease is one of the most important causes of ischaemic heart disease (Sawyer & Vasan, 2017) and is characterized by a reduction in the volume of perfusion to the heart (i.e., ischaemia) or even its complete cessation (i.e., infarction) (Ambrose & Singh, 2015; Fuster, 1994; Saleh & Ambrose, 2018).

Critical Link between Calcium Regional Heterogeneity and Atrial Fibrillation Susceptibility in Sheep Left Atria
Abstract : Background: Atrial fibrillation is the most sustained form of arrhythmia in the human population that leads to important electrophysiological and structural cardiac remodeling as it progresses into a chronic form. Calcium is an established key player of cellular electrophysiology in the heart, yet to date, there is no information that maps calcium signaling across the left atrium.
