Exploring basal metabolic rate and dietary adequacy in twin pregnancies: the VENERE study - Nutrition & Metabolism
Thirty-five women carrying twins were enrolled in the study, of whom 32 completed the follow-up and were included in the analysis. Table 1 summarizes the socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of study participants at baseline. The cohort was predominantly Caucasian (97%), with a mean maternal age of 35.6 ± 4 years. Most women were primiparous (72%) and conceived spontaneously (69%). The mean pre-pregnancy BMI was 24.1 ± 3.9 kg/m2, with 19 women (59%) exhibiting normal weight.
