1. Introduction Mandibular setback surgery (MSS) is one of the therapeutic options for the correction of mandibular prognathism in subjects suffering from severe class III skeletal malocclusion, which is untreatable with orthodontic treatment alone [1]. The indication for isolated mandibular setback surgery is limited to about 10% of cases that require surgical correction of this dentoskeletal dysmorphia [2]. Bimaxillary surgery is generally preferred [3].
