Oligometastatic neuroendocrine tumors: characteristics and prognosis

Abstract Oligometastatic disease (OMD) in neuroendocrine tumors (NET) has hardly been investigated so far and it is unclear how OMD should influence treatment decisions. The primary objective of this retrospective analysis was to evaluate characteristics and prognosis of the OMD state in patients with NET G1/G2 of gastroenteropancreatic origin. The overall study cohort comprised 190 patients. OMD occurred in 29% of patients (n = 55), 58% of those (n = 32) had synchronous oligometastases.

1 Introduction Extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of the mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT-lymphoma) is an indolent B-cell lymphoma with a distinct affinity for mucosal structures [1]. Comprising roughly 8% of newly diagnosed lymphomas, the stomach is the most common site of origin, with 30%—35% of cases diagnosed at that site [2] with infection with the Gram-negative rod Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) being the most common cause [3, 4].
