We read with interest the article by Manchec and colleagues (1), which correlated outcomes following catheter-directed thrombolysis of acute submassive pulmonary embolus with the anesthetic agents used for procedural sedation. It is commendable to see a review of cases in this emerging and still high-risk area of hospital practice.

The authors acknowledge that the principal audience of the study was the interventional radiologist, and, as such, the study writers did not seek to analyze the impact of total dose, timing, or depth of sedation.
