Introduction Molecular and morphological data indicate that Portulacaceae Juss. is not monophyletic as traditionally circumscribed, leading to the recognition of four segregate families: Anacampserotaceae Eggli & Nyffeler, Montiaceae Raf., Talinaceae Doweld, and the monotypic Portulacaceae (Nyffeler and Eggli 2010). The genus Portulaca L. is cosmopolitan and comprises 153 species (POWO 2026), which occur mainly in tropical and subtropical regions (Hernández-Ledesma et al. 2015).

1. Introduction Direct interaction with patients constitutes a key feature of medical curricula, leading to the development of knowledge, clinical reasoning, communication skills, and professional attitudes among medical students [1,2,3]. As a matter of fact, student–patient interactions at the bedside, guided by physicians during teaching sessions, continue to serve as the cornerstone for the comprehensive training of future doctors and the practice of medicine [2].
