Background Recently, oncological knowledge has grown exponentially in terms of both diagnosis and therapy. Qualitative improvements in different fields, for example, genomics, histology and technology, provide a heterogeneity of data regarding both patient and tumor characteristics. Therefore, a larger amount of different types of data, together with their increased complexity, need to be considered in the decision-making process [1,2].
