The first half of October and there’s lots to enjoy: gorgeous trees, bountiful produce at farmers markets, scrumptious Thanksgiving dinners, and of course, films at the ByTowne and the Mayfair. There’s even a free screening on Oct. 1 at the Mayfair that you’ll want to catch. But first, the film I’ve been waiting for all year will be screening at the Mayfair! This year is the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Film Institute’s Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), the second largest animation festival in the world! This year’s festival began on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and runs to Sunday, Sept. 27 at several downtown locations —mainly at the Ottawa Art Gallery, Arts Court, and the ByTowne. Before the festival began, I made some suggestions about what to see.
