1 INTRODUCTION Natural products represent compounds that have been isolated from plants, animals and other organisms. Along with their structural analogues, they have had and continue to have a relevant role in anticancer drug discovery, by offering the advantage of a fixed chemical structure with higher specificity for target proteins and protein–protein interactions (Atanasov, Zotchev, Dirsch, International Natural Product Sciences, & Supuran, 2021) (Figure 1).
