Background: Stage III melanoma is associated with 5-year recurrence-free survival rates ranging from 62% for stage IIIA to 24% for stage IIID. Although S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B) is reported as a prognostic biomarker, no consensus has been achieved on its implementation as s a clinical follow-up tool. This study investigates the potential of S100B as a prognostic biomarker to predict disease recurrence in patients with stage III melanoma.
