1. Introduction Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been recognized as one of the most significant threats to the health of people and food-producing animals. The report from the World Health Organization (WHO) on AMR indicates that resistance of common bacteria has reached alarming levels in many parts of the world. For example, the resistance of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Klebsiella spp. to last-resort third-generation cephalosporins and carbapenems antibiotics has reached up to 54% [1,2].
