Last year we were fortunate to bring you guys coverage of one of the coolest competitions of the entire year for us from Pamplona, Spain. You might remember the athletes running on the streets where the running of the bulls take place, lifting stones reminiscent of some Basque area strongman sport, Karin Frey asserting dominance on the field, and an incredible battle between Uldis Upenieks and Aniol Ekai on the men’s side. Well, the competition is back, with a new name, at the same venue.

In the sport of functional fitness, Sunday is known for being the most dramatic and ruthless day. The athletes know what is at stake, and they know that the points left up for grabs are quickly dwindling. Sunday of TYR Wodapalooza Miami was one of the best of them.

The day kicked off with the Overhead Squad workout, where teams had to overhead squat an ascending weight, descending rep barbell. You could split the repetitions however you wanted within your team, you just had to get the work done.
