Background: Accurate intra-operative localization techniques are essential for safe and successful surgical excision. Depending on surgeons’ preferences, expertise and availability, standard methods vary among institutions. Currently, evidence-based methods include wire-guided localization (WGL), ultrasound (US)-guided surgery, radioactive Iodine or Magnesium seed localization and charcoal (or carbon) tattooing.
