Abstract Infrared thermography (IRT) has recently gained attention in the field of exercise physiology, due to its ability to monitor thermoregulatory and cardiopulmonary responses non-invasively and in real time during physical exercise. However, the reproducibility of intra-individual measurement and standardization of region-of-interest selection in relation to the acute exercise response remain inconclusive.

1 INTRODUCTION Exercise physiologists continue to seek suitable biomarkers for objective monitoring of exercise load, optimizing load management in athletes and enhancing their performance. Amongst potential candidates, circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) has shown a promising potential to reflect physiological responses to exercise for several reasons (Breitbach et al., 2012; Fridlich et al., 2023).
