Switzerland became the latest country to return Benin Bronzes looted by the British in 1897, with a ceremony in Zurich on 20 March in which three museums – the University of Zurich’s Ethnographic Museum (VMZ), the Rietberg Museum of Zurich (MRZ) and the Ethnographic Museum of Geneva (MEG) – transferred ownership of 28 objects in total, of which 18 will be taken to Nigeria in June of this year.
