An emerging body of literature has begun to document the strategies employed by health-harming industries (HHI) to misrepresent and misuse evidence as part of wider strategies to promote their favoured policy agendas (Gilmore et al., 2023; Ulucanlar et al., 2023). Drawing on Robert Proctor’s concept of agnotology (Proctor and Schiebinger, 2008), such activities have been termed ‘corporate agnogenic practices’ (Fooks et al., 2019).
