Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), also known as the sweetpotato whitefly, remains a predominant threat to a wide variety of crops, including tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.) (Solanaceae) and other vegetables (Li et al. 2021). Previous research has shown that B. tabaci is not just a single species, but a complex of multiple cryptic species identified by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COI) DNA sequence (Perring 2001, De Barro et al. 2011).
