Alex Johnson (Gatesville High School Class of 2025) is set to attend Harvard University in a couple of weeks. In preparation for that big day, Alex received some advice from another GHS graduate who attended Harvard as well. Dr. Paul Stone, GHS Class of 1970, was raised in Gatesville. His family built a house on 29th Street, which he now owns and resides in when he visits Gatesville. His mother was an elementary school teacher.

Proposition A explained Dr. Barrett Pollard Despite having up to $5.5 billion earmarked for public education, the 88th legislative session in Texas allocated next to no additional dollars to public schools. In addition, the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) money (which totaled $3,815,791 for GISD) that was allocated from 2021 to 2024 has also ended. Now, GISD is set to see the largest school tax rate compression ever totaling 19 cents.
