Barry Hindess

Dr Barry Hindess says what the public see as political corruption is ever-changing and difficult to pin down. AUSTRALIA IS CONSISTENTLY ranked among the least corrupt countries on Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index — 13th place out of 175 in 2016, its lowest ranking for many years.

If Australian Governments feel free to treat citizen minorities as lesser than others, what kind of privilege does Australian citizenship really represent? Barry Hindess comments. WHILE THE dual citizenship debacle has been playing out in Canberra other, more consequential issues of citizenship slipped by almost under the radar.

If most Australians were either born overseas or have parents who were, why has Section 44 (i) not provided far more entertainment over the years? Barry Hindess takes a look at the history behind dual citizenship and the Constitution. WHILE our mainstream media have been full of reports about the political repurcussions of the dual citizenship of several Senators and at least one member of the House of Representatives, another question of citizenship has more or less slipped under the radar.
