Factors associated with access to care and healthcare utilization in the homeless population of England
Homeless health has been described as an example of ‘extreme health inequalities’.1 People experiencing homelessness are commonly affected by ‘tri-morbidity’,2 with the effects of physical illness, mental illness and substance misuse combining to produce very complex healthcare needs. The health problems of homeless people are often compounded by a lack of access to healthcare, though relatively little is known at present about the factors that affect access to healthcare for homeless people.
