Tariffs On Vehicles, Vehicle Parts, Goods From Canada & Mexico Paused Since the release of GBQ’s Alert on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, significant new actions have been announced by President Donald Trump with respect to tariffs imposed on products from Canada and Mexico. On Wednesday, March 5, President Trump announced tariffs on vehicles and vehicle parts would be paused for one month. This is so long as they otherwise qualify for tariff-free treatment under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Tariffs On Goods Imported From Canada & Mexico Allowed To Go Into Effect Following a 30-day delay on tariffs announced in early February, President Donald Trump announced that increased tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico would be imposed beginning March 4, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time.

With President-elect Donald Trump winning a second term following the Nov. 5, 2024, election, we now have a better idea of what tax policies will be at the forefront of discussions as we head into 2025 and the scheduled expiration of many Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) provisions.
