Abstract Social isolation and loneliness are associated with schizophrenia, yet their distinct genetic contributions and developmental pathways across the psychosis spectrum remain poorly understood.

1 Introduction Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders carry a heavy burden for individuals and society, resulting in substantial functional impairment, high healthcare costs, and a mortality gap of over 10 years [1-3]. There has, accordingly, been a strong emphasis on psychosis prediction and prevention [4-6]. Recent studies have demonstrated that young people admitted to adolescent psychiatry inpatient units (for any reason) are a high-risk group for later psychotic disorder [7, 8].
