1 Introduction Multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED, OMIM #600969) is a group of clinically and genetically heterogeneous diseases resulting in osteochondrodysplasia (Lohiniva et al. 2000). MED usually arises during childhood, between the ages of 2 and 14 years, with a prevalence ranging from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 20,000 individuals (Briggs and Chapman 2002; Unger et al. 2008).
