Response of maize varieties to soil acidity under field conditions in Western Ethiopia

Abstract Soil acidity and associated fertility problems is a major challenge to maize production in western Ethiopia, reducing yield and contributing to food insecurity. This is worsened by the fact that breeding programs focused on testing and developing high-yielding varieties under optimum soil conditions, resulting in limited information on the performance of maize varieties across diverse soil pH. This study aimed to evaluate and identify maize varieties tolerant to soil acidity.
