Synchronisation of Extreme Precipitation and Sea Surface Temperature Events in the Northern Hemisphere: A Complex Network Approach

|

| Wiley Online Library Verified
1 Introduction Extreme precipitation events (EPEs) in the Northern Hemisphere are influenced by various climatic and atmospheric processes, among which tropical cyclones play a critical role. Dare and McBride (2011) reported that 98.3% of tropical cyclones formed over sea surface temperatures (SSTs) above 25.5°C, emphasising the importance of oceanic warming in cyclone development.
