With Luxembourg basking in unusually high temperatures, this year’s National Day festivities come with added risks, especially for the most vulnerable. Dr Jean-Claude Schmit, director at the Directorate of Health, joined RTL Today Radio’s Ben Andrews with a clear message: “It’s really an extreme situation.” Schmit stressed that older people and young children should avoid exposure to the heat and, if possible, stay at home in a cool place and watch the ceremonies on TV.

Two NDP MPs are calling for an emergency Commons debate and more federal resources to support vulnerable women in response to the deaths of four women allegedly slain by a serial killer in Winnipeg. Winnipeg Centre MP Leah Gazan and Churchill–Keewatinook Aski MP Niki Ashton spoke during question period on Monday. “While the government stalls in providing resources, Indigenous women and girls and two-spirit continue to be murdered,” Gazan said.
