Music journalist for @FarOutMag and long-suffering Bradford City fan

Ben Forrest’s Biography

Starting in the world of journalism at the age of fifteen with my music zine Headaches, I have years of experience in music journalism.

In 2020 I began studying for a BA in journalism at the University of Leeds. I graduated in 2023 with a 2:1, plus BJTC accreditation. During my time at university, I was a regular contributor for the student newspaper, The Gryphon, and spent two years as the section editor for the music section of the paper. During this time, I also regularly contributed to local music website Noise Delays Recovery.

After graduating, I started freelancing. Writing political and current affairs pieces for Private Eye as well as writing gig reviews for The Yorkshire post. In addition to this, I took up a full-time job writing business news articles for the West Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, before being hired as a staff writer at Far Out Magazine. At Far Out I have been writing high quality music articles full-time, and have proven myself to be able to deliver a high standard of work to a deadline with very quick turnarounds.
