It’s time to shut Rikers Island down - NY Daily News
If you need further evidence of the torturous conditions at Rikers, think about living in a cell the size of a king-size mattress; that is the average size of a solitary confinement cell on the Island. Many of the individuals in solitary are placed there not because of their own actions, but for their own protection because they have left a gang, have a mental illness, or identify as gay or transgender.
Charles Oakley Is NOT Eric Garner
Last week, former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley was forcibly ejected from a Knicks/Clippers game after a physical altercation with Madison Square Garden security. The 54-year-old was charged with three counts of assault, one count of criminal trespassing and one count of causing a disturbance.

He always stressed the idea of America as a melting pot, and not only did he discuss it, my parents put it in action.
Gene Wilder's Comedic Genius Would Never Fly in Today's Politically Correct Climate
Like everyone else with a pulse I am extremely saddened by the passing of Gene Wilder. He’s a comedy icon that comes around once in a lifetime. He was the kind of genius that made everyone feel in on the joke; he was never an elitist, despite the fact that he easily could have been, given his many talents. Growing up in Wisconsin, Wilder’s home state, I idolized him for his physical comedy and ability to bring unique characters to life.
Voting Third Party DOES NOT Tip the Election to One of the Main Candidates |Heat Street
You gotta love social media. It’s full of foodies, revelers and newly inspired political pundits filling our Facebook and Twitter feeds with memes that they haven’t even read. I have no problem with social media; I was literally just distracted for 10 minutes looking @FactsAboutPigs, but lately I’ve seen a misleading message plastered on my feed —the idea that Third Party candidates are “spoilers” in a general election.
