Team Edward or Jacob? Why do we care anymore?
Let’s be honest for a second. “Twilight” isn’t good. The special effects are janky at best, the dialogue is laughably corny, the plot is strangely Mormon and the main conflict of the saga is a romantic choice between a vampire who is technically not a pedophile and a werewolf who is 100% entirely a pedophile. So why is it that everyone loves this franchise so much? And why does it seem like everyone I know has made the sudden choice to revisit the movies and the books they’re based on?
Depeche Mode’s still got it: a “Help (2)” review
What if War Child Records’ 1995 charity compilation album, “Help,” was followed up in 2026? What if Depeche Mode and Big Thief worked on a project together? What if Cameron Winter kind of half-assed it? What if Arctic Monkeys made music that actually sounded good? “Help (2)” brings these hypotheticals, which have been swimming in our collective consciousness since 1995, to reality. “Help (2),” like its predecessor, is a charity album, sending proceeds to aid for children in war zones.
Tea-Parties and Boylesque Sensations: The Red Eye Theater
Before arriving at the Red Eye Theater, I was under the impression that I was going to a punk show. Instead, I got three pieces of experimental dance in a tiny Minneapolis theater. Needless to say, I was completely unprepared when three dancers — faces painted white with chalky makeup, each carrying a different element of a porcelain tea set — began their set of slow, methodical, painful writhings to a soundtrack of helicopter rotors, news snippets and distorted nature sounds.
Two loons with one stone: A good tattoo for a good cause
Categories: February 5, 2026 I know you. You’re looking for an excuse to get your next (or first) tattoo, and you don’t even care that much about what it is. I’ve been there, and I’m here to give you that excuse you’re looking for. Baby Baby Tattoos, located at 430 N. First Ave., Minneapolis, is ready to put your money to work and ink you up in the process. Whenever I get a tattoo, I think of three things.
Busting it down at Durand Jones and the Indications concert
Durand Jones and the Indications is a band defined by their impressively immaculate vibe. I am willing to admit that I am not amazingly well-versed in the ’60s funk and soul music that inspired the band, but with that being said, I believe that Durand Jones and the Indications is the best thing to come out of Bloomington, Ind. Except for, of course, my friend and partner in musical analysis, Verl Burton ’29.
Porcelain plastic: the art of Yoonmi Nam
You are a piece of garbage. But you are not just any piece of garbage – you are a discarded cup of Maruchan Instant Ramen. You were purchased and then left on a shelf in a dorm room for six months. You were microwaved for two and a half minutes at one a.m. After you were depleted of your innards, you were cast into a garbage bin and never once thought of again; for your entire existence, you were unnoticed. This is your place in the forgotten world of Yoonmi Nam.
