Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly passed three bills last week that would ban diversity, equity, and education (DEI) in public schools, higher education institutions, and state agencies if they become law. All three bills will now be sent to Gov. Josh Stein, a Democrat, who will have 10 days to sign or veto them. A veto override has yet to be attempted this session. If Stein does nothing, the bills will pass without his signature.
