Grouplove + Bully at House of Blues Anaheim — Local Gems CA
Grouplove came to Anaheim on March 6th for their Rock and Roll You Won’t Save Me tour. Pulling from their lengthy discography, they took the stage opening with “Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten,” a crowd favorite. The acoustic intro paired with a subtle harmony singing “Can you believe it we’re really here,” captured the audience's anticipation. Bouncing as the band comes in, the room ignited in communal excitement. Currently on tour with Grouplove and opening the show was singer-songwriter, Bully.

Simplifying Tree Structures Using Grammar Induction
A complex tree of data can often be simplified without losing its essential meaning (tree photographed by Brandon Green, used with permission, all other images by author) You have some important data and you're eager to share it with thinkers and decision-makers. Like a lot of important data, your data is hierarchical, structured like a tree - maybe it's nested investment portfolios, or supply chain information.
[Python-Dev] [RELEASE] Python 2.7.18, the end of an era
I'm eudaemonic to announce the immediate availability of Python 2.7.18. Python 2.7.18 is a special release. I refer, of course, to the fact that "2.7.18" is the closest any Python version number will ever approximate e, Euler's number. Simply exquisite! A less transcendent property of Python 2.7.18 is that it is the last Python 2.7 release and therefore the last Python 2 release. It's time for the CPython community to say a fond but firm farewell to Python 2.
Continuous integration and deployment with Bazel
Dropbox server-side software lives in a large monorepo. One lesson we’ve learned scaling the monorepo is to minimize the number of global operations that operate on the repository as a whole. Years ago, it was reasonable to run our entire test corpus on every commit to the repository. This scheme became untenable as we added more tests. One obvious inefficiency is the pointless and wasteful execution of tests that can’t possibly be affected by a particular change.
The big challenge of Small Data
We’re getting used to dealing with Big Data in our organizations. It has its challenges — Big Data can be too big to ship around easily, too big to back up, too big to aggregate with traditional tools, too big to join quickly to the metadata we’d like to use. But on the other hand, since it’s big and important, you usually know where it is.

E Populist Unum?
The majority of Americans feel alienated from the federal government. Political estrangement has become so acute as to present a fundamental challenge to the principle of self-rule, vital to the American republic. To regain a sense of empowerment, Americans need to rebuild civic culture from the ground up. The path to a healthy national politics runs through American burgs, cities and states.
