Abstract Skin colour is known to confound optical devices, adversely impacting care for patients with darker skin. Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) combines optics and ultrasound for deep tissue imaging, creating a complex relationship between PAI-derived biomarkers and skin melanin concentration, yet no generalisable bias correction has been demonstrated.

Three area high school programs brought home state-level accomplishments today. The Pleasant Plains Lady Cardinals’ soccer season came to a historic close today in Naperville on the campus of North Central College. in the IHSA Class 1A State Championship match, falling to Father McGivney 3-0. The three goals allowed were the most Pleasant Plains surrendered in any game this season. Despite the loss, the Cardinals completed one of the finest campaigns in school history with a 26-1-2 record.

Identity of Roodhouse woman killed in Springfield crash released.

The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the 69-year-old Roodhouse woman who died in a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of South 7th Street and East Laurel on Thursday. Donna Northcutt, 69, died from multiple blunt force injuries she sustained during the crash according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon. In a previous release from his office, Northcutt was transported to HSHS St John’s Hospital from the scene.
