Benjamin Max Gottlieb is an award-winning multimedia journalist and photographer from Los Angeles, California.
His work has been featured in a variety of news outlets, including The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, CNN International, NPR, DAWN, Global Post, NBC, KCET and the Santa Barbara Independent, among others.
He is currently a producer for KCRW's To The Point & Which Way LA? and as art director of InTheFray.com, an online magazine that explores global issues with personal perspectives and critical analysis.
Benjamin has an M.A. in Online Journalism from the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, where he served as Executive Editor of NeonTommy.com, the nation's most-trafficked, online-only student publication. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara as an undergrad, majoring in Global & International Studies and Professional Writing. He is proud to say most of his waking hours at UCSB were spent at the school's daily, The Daily Nexus.
Benjamin has a passion for international news coverage, having traveled to more than 30 countries for work and pleasure. He has lived and reported from Hong Kong and was awarded a Knight Foundation Grant for Reporting on Religion to travel to northern India in 2012. While his Cantonese and Hindi are rudimentary at best, Benjamin is a competent Spanish speaker.
In addition to his insatiable wanderlust, Benjamin is a true child of the digital age, comfortable manipulating HTML and CSS, recording and editing audio and video, and engaging on social media. See mom, all those hours in front of the computer as a kid did pay off!
He is the son of a porteño father and an Angeleno mother.
