Trump says the U.S. will reinstate its blockade on Iran and charge a toll on ships
ISTANBUL — President Trump says that the U.S. will not allow Iranian ships to move through the Strait of Hormuz. "We are reinstating THE IRANIAN BLOCKADE, so named because it is only stopping Iran's ships or customers from entering or leaving," he said in a post online. Trump said other countries will be able to move through the waterway, but that the U.S. would charge a 20% toll on cargo.

Updated July 13, 2026 at 8:12 AM PDT BANGKOK — A huge fire tore through a music bar in Bangkok overnight, killing at least 27 people and leaving 25 hospitalized in critical condition on Monday as investigations began into the Thai capital's deadliest blaze in 17 years. Bangkok city officials said the fire at the Rong Beer Na Ladprao bar in a northern part of the Thai capital broke out shortly before midnight Sunday, and it took about half an hour for firefighters to bring it under control.
Chance for thunderstorms this week in San Diego mountains as temps increase
Most of San Diego County will escape the heat wave coming to Southern California this week, but the desert areas will reach triple digits and the mountains could see thunderstorms, forecasters said Monday. Some inland areas will see moderate to major heat risk mid-week, with highs in the mid-70s along the coast, upper 80s to mid-90s in the valleys, the mountains reaching 91 on Wednesday, and triple digits in the deserts peaking at 108 on Wednesday, according the National Weather Service.

California's two Democratic senators and a San Diego County congressman payed tribute to Lindsey Graham Sunday after the longtime South Carolina senator died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 71. Graham's office released a statement late Saturday night saying that the Republican senator "passed away from a brief and sudden illness" on Saturday evening.
