Benjamin Baird is the Director of the Counter-Islamist Grid at the Middle East Forum, leading a nationwide network of professional activists tasked with countering Islamist influences in select cities. He has been published in dozens of leading digital and print media, providing analysis of islamist and jihadist threats. His national security and counter-extremism expertise have been featured in books, radio and television interviews, news articles, and online video presentations.
Baird graduated from the American Military University with honors, earning a degree in Middle Eastern studies with a concentration on contemporary Iraq. He served as a U.S. Army infantryman for nine years, deploying for over 1,000 days to combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he experienced his first encounter with Islamists.
