Film ini mengikuti kisah Kai Ashimoto, remaja penyendiri yang tinggal di kota kecil bersama ayah dan kakeknya. Ia lebih suka menghabiskan waktu dengan musik bersama bandnya, SEIRÈN, meski hubungan dengan teman-temannya mulai renggang. Suatu hari, hidup Kai berubah saat ia bertemu Lu, gadis duyung yang unik. Musik membuat Lu bisa berubah menjadi manusia, dan keduanya pun cepat akrab. Kai mulai membuka diri kembali, sementara Lu menikmati dunia manusia dengan penuh rasa ingin tahu.
