Abstract Global digital platforms have become important actors for economy and work with social policy consequences. This article analyses strategies and actions of global digital platforms from the perspective of how and what kind of global social policy these represent.

Ah! Remember the days of passing notes in class or nervously dialling a crush’s number on a landline phone? Those quaint rituals have been replaced by a myriad of digital tools that make it easier (and sometimes more complicated) to navigate the world of dating and relationships. For example, dating apps have revolutionised the way we meet potential partners, allowing us to scroll through profiles and make snap judgments based on a handful of photos and a witty bio.

Let’s reflect on a question that’s been buzzing around my brain like an over-caffeinated bee: why do we stick around for those who wouldn’t care less? In the labyrinth of human relationships, this question often emerges like a persistent echo. It’s a perplexing puzzle, one that delves into the depths of our psyche and societal norms. Seriously, shouldn’t our loyalty be saved for the VIPs in our lives who actually give a damn about us? At the heart of this quandary lies the notion of reciprocity.
