Jobs have been lost as Burton's Royal Bank of Scotland closed its doors earlier this month - joining a raft of other shops and banks which have also shut in the town. The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), in Station Street, Burton closed, as part of a number of national closures by the banking group.

Staff at Bretby Crematorium raise thousands for dementia charity by selling left over metal from cremations

Generous staff at Bretby Crematorium raised £15,000 for a dementia charity by selling metal left over from cremations at the site. The Geary Lane funeral and remembrance site raises money as part of a national scheme by recycling metals following cremations, with permission from families of the deceased. Normally, the metal would be given back to relatives or buried, but the recycling scheme allows the crematorium to give something back in a charitable cause.

Tory party members in East Staffordshire have welcomed an investigation into the behaviour of shamed sex text Burton MP Andrew Griffiths, following a crunch meeting. Members of East Staffordshire Conservative Association were expecting to grill Mr Griffiths, 47, at a meeting at the Pirelli Stadium tonight, Monday, August 6, after it was revealed he sent 2,000 text messages to two women over a two-week period and just months after his daughter was born.
