Pneumonia is a serious respiratory illness that poses a great threat to human life [1]. A prominent example is Coronavirus (COVID-19) pneumonia, which has infected over 500 million individuals and caused 6.25 million fatalities [2]. Pneumonia can induce cough, fever, respiratory failure, infectious shock, and even death [3]. When pathogenic bacteria enter the bloodstream, they can cause complications such as sepsis, myocarditis, meningitis, otitis media, and sinusitis, among others [4].

1. Introduction The eye is one of the most complex sensory organs in the body and is divided into two main parts, namely, the anterior and posterior segments []. The anterior segment is the front one-third of the eye which is composed of cornea, trabecular meshwork, conjunctiva, pupil, iris, ciliary body, aqueous humor, and lens, and the posterior segment is the back two-thirds of the eye that comprises the choroid, sclera, retina, macula, vitreous humor, and optic nerve [].
