1. Introduction Dust emissions from active and abandoned mine sites have environmental, social, and economic impacts. They can affect local ecosystems [1,2], the health of workers and local communities [3,4,5,6,7,8,9], may pose safety risks due to reduced visibility [10,11], and can increase vehicle maintenance costs [11]. Furthermore, during strong wind events, dust can be transported and deposited on surrounding communities, causing a nuisance to residents.
